Rodrigues Family meets Alex Kendrick (producer of movies – War Room, Courageous, etc.) Also, Rod. Family coming to PA and Ohio!!

Hi!!  We are thrilled how our trip went to Richmond, VA for the HEAV Homeschool Convention!  It was a blessing to be encouraged by other fellow home-schoolers and what was REALLY neat about it, was that the Lord allowed us to meet 2 celebrities that we look up to – Alex Kendrick (moive maker of Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Courageous, & War Room) and Shaun Alexander (Christian NFL~past~ football player for the Seahawks and the Redskins) – SEE PICTURES BELOW!!

It was an inspiring week and these two men’s “charges” to us were motivating!  We also enjoyed singing as a family in the lobby of the Convention Center for 2 hours.  My (Jill’s) voice was hoarse when we were done…smile.

We were also blessed to stay in Southside Baptist Church’s Prophets Chambers during our visit and then sing for them all day on Sunday.  The fellowship was sweet and we felt “charged up” to come home and continue serving Jesus!!!

Lastly, we are coming to PA and Ohio!  If you live in those areas, we would LOVE to meet you and have you come to one of those services that we will be singing at!  Below is our itinerary for the next 2 weeks……..

~Sunday- June 19th, 2016 (all day) we will be at Pastor Fleck’s Church – New Testament Baptist Church – in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

~Then, we will continue to be at Pastor Fleck’s Church from Monday through Wednesday for their VBS program!  Call for more info. at – (717) 261-6016.

~Then, we head to Ohio for my nephew (Levi Moravek’s) High school Graduation on Saturday- June 25th!  How exciting! – The first “Noyes” grandchild to graduate!!

~On Sunday (June 26th) through the end of that week, we will be at Pastor Gresham’s Church – Liberty Baptist Church – 6953 Germantown Pike, Moraine, Ohio 45342 – for their Revival Services.  For more info. call – (937) 847-9678.

~All day Sunday (July 3rd), we will be at Pastor Elliott’s Church – Anchor Baptist Church in Ohio.  For more info. call – (937) 478-5357.

Enjoy the PICTURES below of our last (Richmond, VA) Trip!!!

One very educational thing we did while there, was take the entire family on a historical, trolley ride through-out Richmond, VA. It was very informative of the history of this old city!!

We met Mr. & Mrs. Boyer (Authors of "Are They All Yours?" among many other books)- they are parents to 14 children!! They have been home schooling for over 30 years. Next year will be their last year to home school. It was a blessing to talk with them.

What was SO neat, was that I (and the girls) did not get to meet Mr. Alexander. However, the Lord was extra good to us and the next day when we were in the foyer of the Marriott eating lunch, almost the entire Alexander came strolling by with their children. They are such a sweet family and the wife and I hit it right off! Shaun Alexander has 8 children!

Brother Alex Kendrick did not have a time for book-signing, or meet & greet.....unless you had paid for a special dinner with him - which we could not afford....smile. So, again - God was SOOO Good to us and allowed us to have a short window of opportunity as he was coming from the Marriott into the Convention Center into the "Ball Room". We were hanging out by the entrance to the Ball Room and we rushed up to Bro. Kendrick. He was SO kind and gracious towards our family.

Brother Alex Kendrick was such a KIND, friendly, humble man.  He shook every hand of our family and was the epitome of gracious.  It was just SUCH an honor to meet him.  His oldest son was with him (17 yrs. old) and he was so polite and kind also.

His message that he spoke that evening, left me feeling in AWE at what God can accomplish in people's lives when they surrender to Him in every area of their lives. It helped to revive my heart to press on towards doing right - UNTIL THE STARS FALL!!

God has been so good to us with all the people we have had the honor of meeting in our travels.  Our ultimate goal in life, is to make the greatest difference for Christ that we can in our ministry.  We came home for a few days, David & I got caught up on some much needed things (including work in the print shop) and now we head out to PA and Ohio!  May we continue to honor Christ in all we do and say…………….for IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL, WHEN WE SEE JESUS!

God bless you all and have a blessed night!

The most exciting thing of this whole week was that this man named Henry, accepted the Lord as his Saviour!! He had been attending the church for close to a year, and finally got saved at the camp mtg.! Hallelujah!!!

Henry really liked our family and he started bringing us cards every night for 8 nights! He would hand them to me and later asked if I liked what they said. "Yes, Henry!" I would reply. "Thank you so much for those cards!!" He would then say, "I meant every word I said in them!!"

Our next mtg. (scheduled at Pastor Rick Drummond's church) got cancelled due to the missionary speaker cancelling and Bro. Drummond getting knee surgery. Well, we were already packed up in our RV and had some spare time. David & I felt that we really needed some "marriage" time..........so, we headed to PA, near my sister - Angie's house- and dropped off our oldest 11 children for Angie to "keep an eye" on. Then, David and I proceeded to a serene campground in Strasburg, PA (Amish Country). Little Sofia was with us due to her still nursing. It was a lovely time!!

We were a little nervous how sweet Amy Foster would take the news, but as always, she was sweet about it and happy for the Hillegass family.

From there, we headed to our next destination in Byesville, Ohio. On our way there, the belt on the engine in our RV, burnt out and broke. SOOOO, we were stranded on a country road in PA. We called a mechanic (Ken) we knew from a church in PA and low and behold, he lived only 1 1/2 hrs. away!! God is so good! He came and fixed it for us! Hallelujah! Well, while we waited, I decided to make "lemonade out of a lemon situation". The children and I went for a walk, did laundry at a local laundromat, washed the car at a car wash, and watched a car race on the side-line lawn and hill. It was fun! While I was at a store getting food for dinner, I also met a Christian couple - the Knupps. They were SO sweet and even graciously handed us some money to help out! I cried. It just touched my heart SO much that in the middle of no where, in a strange area, God showed up and encouraged us and showed us (through other dear Christians whom we had never met before) that HE was still watching over us! What an AWESOME God we serve!!

We did not get to our next destination until 4:30 am. We were EXHAUSTED beyond words! We collapsed into bed to get some much needed sleep and then arose and got ready to at least make it the the church's Sunday evening service. We also went to their Memorial Day picnic the next day. Pressing on for the Cause of Christ,  The Rodrigues Family

Great News to Share that happened on Mother’s Day for the Rodrigues Family!!! – May 8, 2016

Dear Readers,

To all the Mothers reading this, I hope you had a great Mothers’ Day!  I know that I did.  We went to our awesome church (with me wearing my beautiful corsage that David had bought me) both morning and night and heard 2 great messages.  When we got home from church in the afternoon, we decided to stay home to eat so that we did not have to battle the crowds in the restaurants with 12 children in tow.  So, David cooked out and the remainder of the meal, my girls fixed.  I enjoyed the delicious meal and then David presented me with a beautiful “Willow Tree” (I collect them………smile).  It was then my children pulled me into the living room and they sat around in a circle as they SHOWERED me with gifts and cards.

Each gift was precious to me and so nice because I know it was given from their hearts!  However, what really was a “tear jerker” was the card that my oldest son Timothy gave me.  It was a card assuring me that all we have taught him has shaped and guided him to be what he is today.  It blessed my heart beyond measure!

Timothy

Then, a couple of weeks ago Nurie celebrated her 17th birthday.  She was given a Kohls gift card and when David took the children (who had spending money) shopping for me for Mother’s Day, she spent nearly the entire gift card on me and then the remainder on a gift for a friend’s birthday!  WOW!  What a giving daughter I have!  Thank you, children, for each and everything!  Mama LOVES you all so much!

Nurie Katelin

Nurie Katelin

When we got home from the evening church service, the girls did my hair, my feet, and my hands!  AWWWWW…………luxury!

BUT…………the best gift of all was this………….

For the last 2 to 3 months, our little Olivia Mercy (almost 4 1/2 yrs. old) has come to me off and on and said that she wanted to get saved!!  Because it was not her first time to tell us this………..we felt like the timing was right and that she understood what she was asking. IMG_0533

So, we knelt down by our bed with her and talked with her a bit more about it.  David read her some Scriptures and then led her in the Sinners’ Prayer – and Olivia asked Jesus into her heart and was saved from her sins!!  Hallelujah!  When finished, it then dawned on me that it was Mothers Day!!  That was my BEST present by far!  What an answer to prayer!!IMG_0354

God is soooo Good!   I love you all in the Lord and truly hope you had a special day yesterday also!

A Blessed Mama,     Jill Rodrigues

Pictures from trip to NY (including update on Amy Foster) PLUS……come meet Jill Rodrigues who will be speaking at a Ladies’ Mtg. in Pennsboro, WV (at Pennsboro Baptist Church ~ Pastor Fillmore) at 1pm this Saturday – May 7th.

Dear Readers,

Our trip to New York went very well, and was extremely busy!  It was PACKED full with meetings, and also visiting with countless friends and family!  What a WONDERFUL LIFE we have serving our Jesus full time!  We SO enjoy investing in people’s lives and hope and pray to make a positive impact on their lives.  As our ministry grows, I am also excited to see God growing my love and opening the doors to minister to ladies.  This has been a burden of mine since I was a small girl, and I am excited to wait upon the Lord as I watch HIM open these doors!!  What else can I say?? ~ We serve an AWESOME God!

Below is a pictorial “journal” (of sorts) of our trip to NY.  Enjoy!!

Amy is still trying to heal from 2 VERY stubborn stage 4 bed-sores. Due to that, she is normally bed-ridden. SOOO, I told her - "Enough of laying in that bed! We need to make some new memories!! I'm taking you shopping!!" So, Kevin showed me how to operate their handicapped accessible van and we loaded up (along with some of our girls) and headed out for a fun day! This is us in the store ready to shop!!

We had SO much fun! It was only Amy's second time to really go "joy shopping" since the accident. She melted my heart as she tried SO hard to sift through the clothing racks.........all done with a smile on her face! Amy has had to learn SO much patience as she has to wait on so many other people to do small menial tasks for her. I see her sweet spirit through it all and it inspires me to tears!! I LOVE YOU, sweet Amy!!

This was Amy's first time to go out to eat since the accident. She was a bit self conscience as she had to periodically tip her wheelchair back to relieve her bed-sores..........but no one minded and when the waitress and other waiters heard her story- mentioned how they wished they could have given her FREE dessert! Amy does well eating with her "special" utensils as long as the food is cut up good.

This is David's brother- Daniel. It was so good to see him our last Sunday there. It is really ironic that about 20 years ago, Daniel was in a car accident & had to have surgery- rendering him a paraplegic. On Sunday, we were talking of my sister Amy and Daniel began to weep in sorrow for my sister. I knelt down next to him and wept with him. Never before I have I been so KEENLY aware of Daniel's suffering - that with shame I admit I have perhaps been unknowingly indifferent. It is amazing how when you see (or feel) suffering on a personal basis, it makes you more compassionate towards others sufferings. So, David has a brother in a wheelchair and I have a sister in a wheelchair. We look forward to seeing our siblings walk again on streets of gold again someday in Heaven!!!

What Gender Am I?? (April 2016)

We live in a sad world! God created man and woman, and we need to accept what HE decided we should be at birth! But, unfortunately, people are fighting a sovereign God’s choice at what their gender should be when they get older………absurd! Ge 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

These people spout off the word – “FREEDOM”!! They want freedom to sin, but they do not want Christian’s to have the freedom to do what WE feel is best………….based on God’s Word – the Bible. They call us hateful and prejudice……………….but what are they doing to us when they strip away our freedom to believe what WE think is right?? It is a mixed up world!! God is NOT the author of confusion, SATAN is………….and he sure has made a mess of things lately (as always!!). 1Co 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion,

Yes, lets love these people, for they DO need Christ…………but Christians, lets stay “salty” for Christ. (.Lu 14:34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?) Are you still a salty Christian for Christ or are you swayed with the times? Lets be BIBLE believers and fight for truth and righteousness!! God does not want lukewarm Christians, however, I fear that is what our churches are filled with.

Re 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

A New Precious Baby??!! (March 2016)

How many people out there find out they are expecting a baby and are THRILLED beyond measure and then they find out that something is terribly wrong with that baby?  The baby will live as long as it is inside of Mama, but its life cannot be sustained outside of the Mother’s womb?  What would your decision be if you would be in this situation?  Would you want to terminate the pregnancy so that you would not have to go through a full-term pregnancy, only to have your heart broken in the end by watching your little one slowly slip away?  OR, would you choose to allow God to handle the situation and let your baby live as long as possible and let God decide when to take the baby’s life?

I certainly hope that you would choose life for your baby!!  I would like to introduce to you my sister-in-law (David’s sister) – Jaynell and her husband Josh.  I am THRILLED to introduce them as TRUE parents to their precious baby!  We were screaming with delight when we found out in September 2015 that they were expecting their first baby

Josh & Jaynell are on the left.

Josh & Jaynell are on the left.

and then sadly, we found out on Christmas day 2015 that they were being faced with this decision.  Sadly, to some, the decision to choose life may have seemed hard, but not to Josh & Jaynell.  They knew in their hearts that they would NEVER terminate this pregnancy.  They were THRILLED beyond measure to enjoy this baby as long as God chose to let it live on this earth.  Jaynell had looked forward to motherhood with a passion ever since she was a small girl.  When we found out the devastating news, I wept.

Finally, on March 14, it was a sad but yet also a happy day as Jaynell gave birth to their baby. Please meet our precious little niece ~ Haven ~ below.  I hope Josh and Jaynell’s words  inspire many people that read this to NEVER terminate a pregnancy.  God is capable of caring for both Mom and baby and we should allow HIM to be the Potter in molding out and fashioning the “end of the story” in His infinite all-knowing way.

We love you, Josh, Jaynell, and sweet Haven.  We are THRILLED with Josh and Jaynell’s decision to give Haven life as long as possible!  We looking forward to meeting you in Heaven someday, precious baby girl!!

With Broken Hearts,   David, Jill, & Children Rodrigues

Josh and Jaynell’s Words……………….

Josh and I wanted to officially let the rest of our friends know that our precious baby girl, Haven Aliyah, was born into heaven 10 weeks prematurely, on March 14th at 3:30 pm. She hung on as long as she could. She was so beautiful and so tiny. She weighed only 1 lb and 14 oz. She was 14 1/2 inches long, very tall like her daddy. We got to hold her and spend time with her in the hospital before we had to let her go. It’s been a very rough time for us and I miss her tiny kicks and the memories we were making already but we know she is in the most glorious place she can be. I thank all who were there to support us with prayers, visits, calls and text. We are thankful she didn’t/isn’t suffering and is finally at peace with our Lord.

Another announcement from Josh and Jaynell………….

(Aren’t Haven’s feet in the background of this photo SOOO precious?!!)

We were just like any other first time parents who just found out they were expecting. So full of joy and dreams for an extraordinary future.

On December 2nd, 2015, during a routine gender ultrasound, we had our hopes and dreams crumble around us as we heard the words “fatal birth defect” that is “incompatible with life.” The baby was living only because she was attached to me???

Devastated and lost, we prayerfully and faithfully chose to carry our angel to term and give her a fighting chance at life. We put her in God’s hands. As long as He kept her alive, we vowed to make many memories and treasure any time we’d been given.

On March 14th, 2016, two months early, we delivered the most beautiful baby girl who never took an earthly breath. Our precious time was suddenly cut so short. We spent as much time with her as her little body would allow. Although grateful, the time will never ever be enough.

For this, we wish to set up a fund to raise money for a cuddle cot, which will be donated to University Medical Center in hope that other families suffering a similar fate could have the benefit of more time with their precious children.

We wish to donate the cuddle cot in Haven’s name. A name we spent much time contemplating for true and perfect meaning. In memory of Haven Aliyah Hale, meaning “a safe place” until she was “called upward.”

Please consider donating to this special cause and give time back to grieving families. Please share this post. Thank you for your support.

“NEWS” about Timothy Rodrigues (March 2016)

The other day we were traveling in the RV and I fixed some food.  I offered Timothy some and he politely turned it down.  He is a growing teenage boy and is almost always hungry.  He is a hard worker though and many times puts his work before his stomach………smile.  So, when he is not in the middle of something and still turns down food, I knew that something was up.

Timothy

Timothy – 16 Years Old!!

“Are you fasting?” I questioned him.

“Yes,” he meekly replied.

“OH!!!” I responded with admiration.

I watched him see food go by all day long in our tight quarters and firmly pass it by without so much as a nibble.  At one point I even began to display my admiration of his decision to the other children and he shushed me.  He wanted this decision to be between him and God.  The next morning I asked Timothy if he had eaten.

“Yes,” he replied. “I ate 5 pieces of toast!  It’s amazing how hungry you get when fasting!” he expressed with intrigue and new awareness of the sacrifices fasting/praying people make.

IMG_0486Timothy had chosen to fast about his future as he approaches his adult life in the next couple of years.  He wants God’s direction and peace about exactly what God would have him to do once he graduates from high school.  He has his sights set on some specific things for his future, but he does not want to press ahead without his parents or without God’s approval.  I was THRILLED beyond measure to see Timothy’s desire to draw nigh unto God in his own personal walk.  He continues to have fasting as a part of his weekly schedule now.

Now, I must encourage Moms out there that may be reading this.  I do NOT say this to put my Timothy down, but he has been our most stubborn child by far!!!  He was a chronic whiner and whined his way through the toddler age.  He connived his way IMG_0496through childhood and was always looking for ways to look out for number one and what HE wanted out of life.  Needless to say, sometimes it drove my husband and I crazy!

YET……….even when David and I felt bone weary and could not believe we were having to deal with yet another “strong – willed” moment in our son, we would (by God’s grace and power) consistently correct it every time.  We tried not to let the “little errors” go by, but rather show him the error of his ways with each and every small and big thing.

With some children, you feel that you just correct a few times and they magically just “catch on”.  With others, consistency time and time again is crucial!!  As they grow, you should see a growth in them in their understanding of their erroneous ways and you should see growth in their spiritual lives.  It has NOT come easy in the life of our Timothy, but I can say, he brings us SO much joy now.

IMG_0490He is still a very driven young man and is very self-motivated and hard-working.  These are character traits that are his strength and areas we have had to do very little training in.  However, our goal with our children is not just to see them achieve success in areas the world would deem as important, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, in areas our God deems important!!  The issues of the heart is where we know our God is looking.  Pr 20:27 ¶ “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”   Also………… Ro 7:22 “For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:”

Timothy is growing into such a wonderful young man that brings us joy and delight.   3Jo 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”

I think of other teenage boys I know that seem like the best thing they have to do is hang in front of the TV, act flirtatious around the pretty girls, act indifferent towards adults, and really act as if they could “care less” about spiritual things.

I do NOT want to boast myself of tomorrow, for Timothy is young yet (as I well know), but I do know this, as a handsome, strapping 16 year old young man, I am VERY pleased with his desire to seek the face of God in his life.

He is so gentle and kind to his younger siblings and looks for ways that he can make their lives more pleasurable.  He will “rig” up a fun ride for them and he is constantly fixing things for all his siblings.  He is very patient with his sometimes giddy, teasing teenage IMG_0477sisters and responds to them with a smirk.  He inspires and encourages his younger brothers to keep their room always neat and tidy and is his Dad’s “right arm” when it comes to projects.

Bud, Mama loves you more than you will ever know.  I know that you will not want this kind of public praise, but I wanted to let you know how THRILLED I am with your desire in life to do the right thing.  You do NOT have perfect parents (as you well know……..smile), but I am thankful that you have taken the training and advice we have given you throughout your childhood and are now actively applying it to your life!!  You are a greater blessing in our home than you will ever realize!  Thank you for seeking God with your life!!

Mamas, do you have a stubborn child?  Do you finally say, “It’s not worth the battle.  I’ll just throw the dice in a gamble and hope to God they will turn out!”

Remember, if raising children was just a “gamble” and we had no SURE hope that they would turn out for God, then I will tell you right now, that would take all the “wind out of my sails”.  We MUST rise up and claim God’s promises from His Word!!  There IS a recipe for success, but too few parents are willing to take that road.  It is a “weary to the flesh” road; but, the reward in the end is ……….well………….worth it all!!

I have met a handful of families that have had this success and they were absolute PASSIONATE about raising up their children for Christ.  My parents for example (Tim &

(My Dad on the back tree) Tim Noyes

(My Dad on the back tree) Tim Noyes

Pat Noyes) are my awesome role models!  My Dad and Mom were ridiculed so many times for sheltering us too much or for homeschooling us or for being too strict…………yet in the midst of all that, they tastefully mixed in LOADS of love, support, fun, and trust!  These critics would look to my parents and wag their heads in judgement that my parents should “wait until we got older………..and then we would see how we would for sure all rebel and go astray.”

Somehow though (because my parents followed and practiced God’s principles) that day never came.  PRAISE THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS!!  He NEVER fails us!!

IMG_0246

Amy Foster

How is it that my (Jill’s) sister can go on in life as a crippled quadriplegic and inspire many as she continues on with no bitterness towards God??  Because she had a Mom and Dad that were fervent in teaching us to NEVER forsake our God…………..because – Heb 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”  He is God Himself and He never forsakes us…………so why should we forsake Him?  Thanks, Amy, for choosing right in your life……..even when you have faced one of life’s hardest trials ever!

At the end of the day, the decision to do right will land in the hearts and minds of your children.  However, God does not leave us without hope, but promises success when we follow HIS principles.  NO……………..it is not our good works that inspire success, but action upon what he commands us to do.  Are you willing to rise up and give it your all??

3 generations of men that fear God!

3 generations of men that fear God!

Timothy just turned 16 years old and we told him he could pick out any “boy” friend to take out to dinner with us and to then go do some fun “guy” thing (like go-carting / or something like that).  Well, he could not think of a friend (near us) that he felt close enough to that he could relate to spiritually, so he chose Grandpa!!  Wow!  That alone blessed my heart!  Old Mom (me) bought him these “cool” sunglasses to use on his baby                                                                                             blues when driving, etc.  IMG_0491

We are on the brink of our children starting to leave home, and we truly want to cherish each moment with them, for these precious moments surely fly by so swiftly.

I love you, Timothy.                                Hugs, MamaIMG_0492

Florida Pics (Including Pics with Anna Duggar’s Family) March 2016

We had a great trip to Florida with a packed full schedule.  We heard a LOT of awesome preaching and we sang a lot!  God blessed and many churches want us back next year.  When we get even more jobs to do here at the print shop in WV, we may not be able to make trips that take this long, but for now, we want to continue to walk through the doors that God opens for us to serve Him!!  Although we were in church MANY of the days of each week, we did not get many pics of that.  However, we found little moments to take “breathers” as a family and spend time with the children doing something fun.  Enjoy the pictures of that below!  Go to the bottom for pics of Anna Duggar’s Family and for an extra special treat at the end!!!

Another Shooting?? 2-13-16

I was leisurely walking through Walmart and I was pushing my 4 year old Olivia in the cart.  A sales man stopped me and asked me what daycare I used for my daughter.  I responded that took care of her and did not use a daycare.IMG_0354

“Oh, okay.”  he replied as he lifted his eyebrows in surprise.

I continued on with my shopping and was soon passing by that same area in the store again.  A different man this time stopped me and asked me how much we payed for our television service each month.  I promptly told him that we did not have any type of cable / TV service.

“Oh”,  his voice fell flat.

I walked on pondering in my mind at how unusual and odd I must have seemed to these men.  Our family’s decisions and ethics of living have unfortunately fallen in the minority of this world today.  To think that I could make it through each day without TV and just the mere fact that I am homeschooling NINE children right now with 4 teens in the house and one infant, one toddler, and one preschool age child “blows” the mind of most people.  Yet, to me, it is a way of life that brings nothing but reward after reward.  Yes, it is ONLY the power of God that makes us successful at anything we do, but it is also a determination to do right. ( 2Ch 34:31 And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.)

I will not say that my life is a “piece of cake”.  BUT………as I faithfully trod through each day, I am blessed ABOVE MEASURE time and time again.  When we made the decision to have the children that we (so far) have, I was NOT going to plead, “Pitty Party” to all who asked me about my life.  The world may paint the picture that too many children are a “trial” in life, but my God tells me different……….. Ps 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.IMG_0362

Unfortunately, I have been around far too many people that act like a “martyr” because they are a Mom of many children.  Yes, it takes grit determination to “stay the course” as a godly wife and mother and to rise yet again……………..every time I fail.  (Pr 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.)

I get so weary of hearing time and again of ANOTHER shooting somewhere in the world. Innocent lives are taken and the family is left broken, grieving for their lost loved one.  Usually the killer has a plan.  They have a evil “vision” for their course of action and how they will eventually “pull the trigger” as they massacre helpless victims.  As they strategically plan, and then act out their strategy, the bullet goes flying through the air and when it hits its mark, they sit back in an evil smugness that their mission was accomplished.

IMG_0344Not long ago, my husband and I went to a gun safety class so that we could eventually get our carry concealed certificate.  I have to admit, that this was NOT in my comfort zone.  I did not grow up with brothers and to even touch a real gun intimidated me.  But, I knew that it was necessary for me to learn to be more confident and safe IMG_0345conscious around guns.  When we went to the shooting range to practice what we had learned on our pistols, I, at first, wanted to just run away from it all than to actually have to step up to the shooting range and pull that trigger.   However, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, hitting practically the bulls eye the first time I shot.

As much as I am thankful that I have this training and experience now “under my belt” (pardon the pun……..smile) I cannot help but ask myself why this influx of shootings has lately taken place.  It is then that I am reminded of the many times I walk through various stores and see the evil all over the shelves.  The market for video games has sky-rocketed and so much of it is just plain…………well, for lack of better words – TRASH!!  It fills our youngsters minds and hearts with a thirst and hunger for killing and evil.  Yet, the Bible tells to fill our minds with the very opposite.   Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

My GREAT fear is that Christians have followed closely behind the world in what they allow in their homes.  We are just simply NOT passionate anymore about protecting and nurturing our children in the ways of the Lord.   Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  Sometimes I wonder if we actually provoke their thoughts and lives to wrath because of what we put before their very eyes.  Parents, many times, fall back on relying in the church Youth Group or Youth Pastor or Christian School to “raise” their children for the Lord………….settling back into a “:hands off” approach of parenting and trusting that fate will see them through. We turn a blind eye to our concerns and trust that we are doing our best and then fall back in shock when they go astray into the world as young adults.

Please allow me to take a moment to clarify that I am certainly NOT boasting myself of tomorrow, because I know not what a day may bring forth in the lives of my children, but I DO KNOW THIS…………..I CAN BRAG ON MY JESUS AND HIS WAYS.  When we as parents become truly passionate about raising our children and apply God’s principles to our lives, we CAN trust in HIM ALONE and with hope and encouraging expectancy, look to the future.  Years ago, people used to warn us with a sad voice, “Wait until your children become teenagers………….they will not be so sweet and obedient anymore!!” It was almost as if our children’s well-behaved manner irritated them and they wanted to warn us of our certain pending failures and disappointments we SURELY would face in the future. Well, we have 4 teenagers right now and I can truly say they are a joy in our home.  They love God, and are faithful to Him, to us, and their siblings.  No, they are not perfect and neither are we as parents………..but I honestly can say, I am blessed beyond measure.

May I share a story with you?  The other day our children got a very small portion of money from a dear couple at a church we sang at in Florida.  They were so excited to get that small amount and David and I eagerly took them to the store to let them spend it.  The small children got candy and the older children we left behind at the store for awhile to leisurely look for what they may want.  David dropped me, the babies, and small children back to the RV and went back to the store to pick up the oldest 5 IMG_0371children.  When they walked through the door of the RV upon arriving home, I was eager to see what they chose with their meager amount of money.  They, with smiling faces, handed me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and gave both David and I a chocolate heart.  I cried.  Their sacrifice meant SO much to me and was unexpected.  They give from their hearts and I am truly honored by them.  Our children are always quick to obey and keep their possessions and rooms neat and tidy.  I am taking this moment to praise my children because they would not brag of these things themselves.  (Pr 27:2 ¶ Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.)

I ask myself how I became SO blessed?  I am NO ONE special, but I do know this, I have a plan.  It is falling to my knees in prayer and seeking the wisdom and face of God on how to be successful in this challenging job of motherhood.  Where are the “Mamas” of this day and age that will rise up and have a godly plan for their children.  Give up the frills of this world and take a step of faith and be a stay at home Mom.  Pour your life into every aspect of your parenting.  Don’t get weary in well doing, but beg God for strength for each new day.  (Ga 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.)  There it is again………..another promise from God.  Claim, with confidence, the promises of God.

He does NOT break His promises to us.  ( Pr 22:6 ¶ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.)  Unfortunately, I have heard so many parents “explain away” that verse, however, it seems pretty clear to me.  It is a promise from God, and I know that I can trust His promises.

So, if my children DO depart from it, I will trust that it is NOT because God broke a promise to me, but rather WE (as parents) dropped the ball in our training somehow.  Yes, our child does have a free-will and will answer to God for their own sin, but if our child does go astray, (God forbid that it should happen) we would have to bear the sorrow of watching that child flounder in the unsettling ways of Satan’s plan and we would wipe away our tears, knowing that we perhaps share in the fault in not being passionate enough about our training.  ( De 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and 100_6760when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. )  I can humbly, but honestly say that this is what I do with my children.  We are constantly taking “life’s lessons” and sitting down as a family and talking about them.  Our children LOVE these talks and we have so much fun opening up our hearts to each other.  Satan HATES these words that I am typing right now and certainly has (I’m sure) put our family in his cross-hairs.  Thankfully though, I am on the WINNING SIDE!!  We MUST walk circumspectly though for Satan is as a rouring lion…………seeking whom he may devour.  (1Pe 5:8 ¶ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:)

Just like the evil man or woman that may commit these TRAGIC shootings – following their strategic plan, we must PLAN our course of action with our children.  Parenting must not happen haphazardly, but with passion and vision. Too many parents just get tired and in a way, give up.  Sure, they may still go to church, and be good, moral people, – perhaps even be in the ministry, but are they diligent in their training and family “pow-wows”?  Oh sure, the world will read this and say that you are brain-washing them, but like my husband says, “I’d rather be ‘brain-washed’ than ‘brain-dirtied’………….smile.

As we travel, we are in SO many revival services with awesome preaching from men of the faith.  It encourages and cleanses my mind from the relentless assaults of this world.  By the power of Christ, we must combat the evil in this world.  (Ro 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.)  Constantly be looking for ways to fill your home with godly influences.

With all this said,  I got to thinking of a shooting that I hope and pray is successful someday in hitting its mark.  David’s and my prayer is that we can send our children out into life someday and that they will “hit the mark”.  ( Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.)

WE MUST NOT SETTLE BACK AND BECOME DISTRACTED AS PARENTS!

THE MARKSMAN IS FOCUSED, CONCENTRATING AND PURPOSE DRIVEN!

ANOTHER GENERATION NEEDS TO RISE UP AND SERVE OUR JESUS WITH PASSION AND PERHAPS THEN, THERE MAY BE HOPE FOR REVIVAL IN THIS GREAT NATION!!

RISE UP, Mamas, WITH A RENEWED VIGILANCE FOR YOUR HOMES AND FAMILIES!  BE THAT VIRTUOUS WOMAN…………….FOR GOD’S RETURN DRAWETH NEAR…………FOR SIGNS OF THE TIMES ARE EVERYWHERE!

IMG_0217EQUIP YOUR HUSBANDS AND PUT IN THEIR HANDS “ARROWS”, THAT WHEN THEY PULL BACK ON THAT BOW STRING AND SEND FORTH THEIR GROWN CHILDREN INTO ADULT LIFE, THAT ARROW WILL FLY STRAIGHT AND HIT THE MARK!!  ( Ps 127:4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.)

Another shooting??……………..Let’s combat the evil of this world with a renewed zealousness to raise up godly children for Christ, so that when we send them into the world, they will “hit the mark” God intended for their lives!!

Serving my Jesus for HE ALONE IS WORTHY,

Jill Rodrigues
